Creative Process
The Sketch
Every design begins with a moment of inspiration — usually something soft and beautiful I’ve seen in nature. A wildflower, a curious bird, a sunlit branch. I start by hand-sketching the design on paper, capturing the lines and shapes that caught my eye. Once the drawing feels right, I refine and digitize it so it can be transferred onto fabric. This is where the idea begins to take form — simple, organic, and uniquely mine.
The Design
Next comes one of my favorite parts: planning the details. I carefully choose the color palette, thinking about how each hue will work together to bring the sketch to life. I also decide on the stitch styles and texture I want to use to highlight specific elements. This part is both thoughtful and playful — I’ll often test the design a few times until it feels just right. It’s about capturing the joy of the inspiration, not just the shape.
The Stitch
Once the design is ready, I transfer the sketch onto the cap, position it in the hoop, and begin stitching. This is where everything comes together — slowly, thoughtfully, and with great attention to detail. Each stitch is placed by hand, and no two caps are ever exactly the same. I love how this part of the process gives space for rhythm, rest, and creativity. It’s quiet work, but full of joy.
